What many people think of as waste can be used to create real works of art.

It is hard to imagine a beautiful artwork made of waste, because most people think of waste as rubbish and dirt.

In fact, some artists do use certain types of waste as  a material to create their work.

By turning secondary raw materials into art, they draw attention to environmental issues.

One  of the examples is artist, designer and illustrator from Florida, Derek Gores, who is rightly considered the master of collage.

His work is made from shredded leaflets, magazines and other waste paper. Gores sorts the paper into colours and then forms the image.

Usually, the artist creates portraits of women or moments from everyday life. His works are mosaics and look incredibly elegant, original and modern.
