The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is also among the top five cleanest countries. It took 20 years for the UK to achieve this result. Waste sorting in Buckingham Palace set an example for the whole population. But it was not without strict control and fines.
In different parts of the UK, the system for managing waste may vary, but almost everywhere waste is separated into organics, secondary raw materials and non-recyclable rubbish. In addition, the royal family collects grass and branches for composting.
The containers near residential buildings are monitored by the «electronic waste police», which is installed in the bins and reads information about the contents. Waste in bins is also checked by special services officers. If the waste is not sorted, a yellow label will be put on the tank and the waste truck will not pick it up. The violator will get a fine and problems with disposal of his/her waste.
