On November 28, the IV Congress of Young Scientists at the Sirius University of Science and Technology hosted an expert session ‘Formation of a Personnel System for the Environmental Industry’, which brought together representatives of science, business and public authorities. The participants paid special attention to the issues of training qualified specialists to solve key tasks in the field of ecology, nature management and environmental protection.

Among the participants of the session were Evgenia Gladkova, Head of the Center for Environmental Protection, North Caucasus Railway, a branch of Russian Railways; Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Oil and Gas Technologies, Nature Management and Earth Sciences at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University; Alimurad Gadzhiev, Vice-Rector of Dagestan State University; Artem Sedov, General Director of Big Troika LLC; and Stepan Kalmy, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Chairman of the Scientific Council on Global Environmental Problems. The session was moderated by Tatyana Kovaleva, Director of the Compass Foundation for Support and Development of Environmental Initiatives.

Among the key topics of discussion were the revision of educational standards, mechanisms of interaction between science, education and business, and the role of business in the development of the environmental industry.

Artem Sedov, General Director of Big Three LLC, emphasized the need for practical training of specialists in his speech: ‘Science will never go online. We need engineers and scientists who not only work in specialized programs such as AutoCAD, but also have practical skills. Exact science is the basis of all inventions, and the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience makes specialists truly valuable,’ he noted.

The session resulted in proposals for adapting educational programs and improving their practical orientation, which will be submitted to the Russian Academy of Sciences for further development.

The Congress of Young Scientists continues to be an important platform for sharing experience and discussing strategic initiatives, and Bolshaya Troika demonstrates its readiness to actively participate in solving pressing environmental and educational issues.
